Aunt Hagar's Blues....

I tend to check YouTube regularly for amateur postings of video from our performances at The Carlyle. On a typical Monday night you'll see 3 or 4 people with handheld cameras filming away. Back in the day at Michael's Pub, cameras were frequently confiscated and stomped on. Here is a portion of our opening number on Monday, October 1, 2007. As is with all our performances, set-lists and preplanned tunes are non existent. Typically, Woody will just start a number and we will all eventually fall in as the song progresses. This video is a good example of that procedure. For some musicians, not knowing what you might play next might be nerve racking, but we all enjoy the spontaneous nature of the music. So here you go, some "Aunt Hagar's Blues" by W.C. Handy, New Orleans style.
